Fifth-gen Camaro SS owners who track their cars know the LS3 can run warm, and the Mishimoto MMOC-CSS-10TBK is a thermostatic oil cooler kit made for the 2010 to 2015 Camaro SS. It tucks a 25-row cooler behind the bumper in Stealth Black and uses an M22 sandwich plate to keep oil in range.
The kit includes the 25-row cooler (8.35 x 1.97 x 12.95 in), a 65 in and a 54 in braided hose with -10AN ends, M20 banjo fittings with Dowty seals, an M22 thermostatic CNC 6061 aluminum sandwich plate with a 15 mm spacer and a stainless adapter, plus the bracket. Mishimoto cites up to a 35 F oil temperature reduction, about 0.75 qt of added capacity and minimal pressure drop.
Installation is rated medium. Mishimoto backs it with a lifetime limited warranty for the original purchaser (receipt required). Pick up the Mishimoto MMOC-CSS-10TBK at Track Ready Products and give your drivetrain the cooling it has been missing.
Flush the new cooler with about a quart of clean oil before you plumb it in, so no manufacturing debris ends up in the engine.
Use the supplied Dowty seals at the banjo fittings and torque to 15 to 25 lb-ft, 35 lb-ft max. Mishimoto's install guide PDF covers the routing.
Route the braided lines away from the exhaust, steering components and sharp edges, and make sure they are not pinched at the sandwich plate. Plan on topping off the oil to account for the added capacity.
