Fifth-generation Tacoma owners with the 5-foot bed use the TruXport 256101. It relies on Toyota's Deck Rail System for mounting.
To open it, pull the cable at either side of the tailgate and roll the cover up toward the cab, where integrated straps hold it. Stay-straight TruGuide controls keep the roll tidy so it does not twist or bunch as it goes.
Tension is handled by a factory-set SureTension system, so there is nothing to tweak after install. The vinyl stays flat, the edges resist curling, and supports built into the cover keep rain from pooling and the surface from fluttering at speed.
Plan on roughly half an hour. It clamps to the bed rails with the supplied vehicle-specific hardware and needs no drilling, cutting or other modifications.
Check the rail clamps for tightness after the first week and every so often after that. Keep the cover secured while you drive, wash it with mild automotive soap and water only, and clear snow and ice before rolling it open.
