This is the rear counterpart to Fox's 980-24-652 front shock, matched for the same 4-6" lift range on Super Duty and sharing the same smooth-body IFP design. Running front and rear as a matched pair front-to-rear is the standard approach here, mismatched damping between the two ends shows up quickly as inconsistent handling, especially at this much lift.
The internal floating piston separates shock oil from a pressurized nitrogen chamber, keeping damping consistent rather than fading as the shock works through the added travel a lift like this provides. The aluminum body resists corrosion, and this remains a smooth-body design, no external reservoir, for a more straightforward install than Fox's reservoir-equipped options.
Sold individually, order two for the rear axle, and confirm you're pairing it with the correct matching front shock for a 4-6" lift rather than mixing lift-height-specific parts across front and rear.
