This is the remote reservoir version of Fox's front shock for the 5.5-7" lift range on Super Duty, sitting above the smooth-body 980-24-652 in Fox's lineup. The added reservoir capacity matters most on a truck that's actually working hard at this lift height, towing, hauling, or running rough terrain for extended periods, where extra oil and nitrogen volume translates into less fade than the smooth-body version delivers.
Inside, the same internal floating piston design separates shock oil from pressurized nitrogen gas, and the 5/8" hard chrome shaft and application-specific valving are shared with the rest of Fox's Performance Series line for this platform.
Sold individually, order two for the front axle. Plan extra time over the smooth-body version for mounting the reservoir bracket and routing the hose clear of heat sources and moving suspension components at full compression and full droop.
This is one of two front shocks Fox offers for this exact lift height, the plain smooth-body version and this reservoir version, decide which one you actually need based on how the truck is used before ordering, the reservoir adds real cost for a benefit that matters most under sustained hard use.
