The Bilstein B8 SP 22-242617 is a complete front left strut assembly for the 2001–2005 BMW 325xi and 330xi, drawn from the B8 Performance Plus line. Bilstein presents the B8 Performance Plus as an upgrade over OE dampers, designed to be paired with aftermarket lowering springs. That makes it a logical match for a lowered chassis, where a stock strut would be mismatched. Compared with a cheaper complete strut, this unit's monotube body and application-specific tuning are the features to weigh, since these dampers offer application specific valve settings with a monotube design. Search terms that fit this part include 325xi lowered front strut, 330xi monotube strut, and Bilstein B8 Performance Plus 22-242617.
Because this is a pre-assembled strut rather than a bare shock, the job centers on swapping one complete corner of the front suspension, which keeps the scope of the work contained to one side of the car. Confirm the fitment against your exact year and trim before ordering, and check the included hardware against your existing parts. Plan for a professional wheel alignment after installation, since changing a strut affects camber and toe, and a lowered car is especially sensitive to alignment changes. Keep the install in mind when you choose the strut, because the assembly is only as good as its mounting and alignment.
