The Mishimoto MMOC-CTR-23TBK is a black, thermostatic oil cooler kit for the 2023 and newer Honda Civic Type R (FL5). The FL5 adds a lot of heat on track, and this kit supplements the stock cooling with an air-to-air cooler.
A 19-row black anodized stacked-plate cooler (11 x 5.43 x 1.97 in) comes with nylon-sheathed stainless oil lines, a billet line separator, sleeves, brackets, a hardware kit and a thermostatic sandwich plate kit, with AN-10 flare ends. Mishimoto cites 12 percent more oil capacity (0.65 qt) and a test result about 5 F cooler than stock.
Install involves trimming or removing a factory duct (71336-T20-A00) and relocating the horn to an existing bracket. Torque the AN fittings and banjo bolts to 15 to 25 lb-ft and never past 35 lb-ft, then recheck for leaks and tightness after the first few miles.
Route the braided lines away from the exhaust, steering components and sharp edges, and make sure they are not pinched at the sandwich plate. Plan on topping off the oil to account for the added capacity.
