Baja Designs Jeep JL LED Light Kit Reverse Kit w/ Upfitter Dual S2 Sport w/C

This Baja Designs dual S2 Sport reverse kit, part 447651UP, pairs two S2 LED pods with vehicle-specific brackets and hardware for the Jeep Wrangler JL. The manufacturer positions the S2 as a clear-illumination light for the rear zone that works as either a high-output reverse light for night obstacles or a dust light that makes your Jeep more visible in poor conditions. The Upfitter version adds a harness for JLs with factory Upfitter switch provisions, which is the main difference from the standard 447651 kit.

The case for paying for this kit over a generic LED backup bulb or a hitch-mounted light comes down to sealing, warranty, and a clean mount. The manufacturer describes the housing as waterproof, rain proof, and submersible, and backs the kit with a limited lifetime warranty. One owner on a JL forum dropped a removable hitch light for these pods and reported that the setup works far better day to day, with no bumper cutting or trimming needed. Another owner who considered an Oracle reverse upgrade said most installs they read about required trimming the light to fit, which is why they chose the S2.

Fitment is the first thing to verify. The manufacturer lists the kit for 2018-2025 Wrangler JL models, notes it works with OE Rubicon or Sahara rear bumpers, and states it does not work with Sport trim rear bumpers. For DIY work, owners on user forums describe the Upfitter harness installation as straightforward, with the wiring routed through the frame and tied into the reverse circuit. Some owners hardwired the pods by cutting off the harness connectors. Searches for JL S2 reverse lights, JL Upfitter harness, and 2018-2025 Wrangler JL rear bumper LED backup lights all point to the same fitment checks.
