The Squadron-R SAE Fog Pocket Kit is Baja Designs' road-legal fog light built to drop straight into the factory fog pockets on the Toyota Tacoma (2012-2023), 4Runner (2010-2024), and Tundra (2014-2021). This is the clear-lens version, tuned for a bright, focused beam rather than the amber selective-yellow pattern.
Each light runs a new aspheric projector optic paired with Baja's LED platform, putting out 2,420 lumens and up to 15,800 candela at 29 watts per light. That's roughly a 56% jump in output over the previous-generation SAE Squadron. The beam pattern is built to fill SAE Zone 1 with a sharp, controlled cutoff, so you get real light on the road without blinding oncoming traffic. It's compliant with SAE J583 fog lamp standards, meaning it's built for daily street use, not just off-road duty.
Install is bolt-in. The kit includes vehicle-specific brackets that mount to your factory fog pocket hardware, plus plug-and-play adapters that tie into your OEM harness, so your factory fog light switch keeps working with no splicing or soldering required.
This is a bolt-in job with no wiring modifications required. The kit includes the mounting brackets and a wire harness that ties into your factory connector, so you're working with existing plugs rather than running new wire. A basic trim removal tool and a socket set cover most of what you need. Plan on doing one side at a time so you've got the factory install as a reference for the second.
One thing installers commonly run into: depending on how the bracket is set, the light housing can sit close enough to the bumper cover to rub over time. If you notice contact after mounting, a thin strip of foam or rubber edge trim between the housing and the bumper solves it and takes two minutes.
These are SAE-certified fog lights, which means the lens and optics are tuned to meet a specific legal beam pattern. Unlike Baja's off-road-only lights, these aren't meant to be opened up or have the lens swapped, doing so can throw off the pattern and void the warranty.
