Like Fox's other coilover offerings across Toyota and Dodge platforms, the 985-02-007 replaces the entire front spring-and-shock assembly on the F-150 rather than just the damper, with a locking preload ring that lets you dial in ride height from stock up to a 2" lift. It ships preset and ready to bolt on, no separate spring compressor step required.
Inside, the internal floating piston design keeps shock oil separated from the pressurized nitrogen chamber, and the aluminum body is clear-anodized for corrosion resistance. Because this is a complete coilover rather than a shock paired with your factory spring, it's a genuinely different install than Fox's shock-only options for this same truck, know which one you're ordering before you start.
Sold individually, order two for the front axle. Since the spring ships already mounted, this swaps in more directly than a bare strut requiring a spring transfer, still expect roughly the same overall job as any front coilover swap: wheel off, sway bar link disconnected, upper and lower mounting points accessed.
Fox also sells a near-identical shock for the later F-150 (985-02-006, for 2009+ trucks), confirm you're ordering the version matched to your specific truck's model years, they are not interchangeable despite looking similar.
